Original Bundesmarine (Navy) Wachbataillon enlisted man's sailor cap. This is unusual German Navy guard battalion cap (Matrosenmützen) with distictive 'WACHBATAILLON' tally in place of the standard 'BUNDESMARINE' one. Unfortunately the BeVo 'ON' at the end of word battalion has been pulled slightly and caused a little fuzzing in the letters (see pictures). A rare item in a desirable size of 60 (7-1/2), Used. Only one.
The Wachbataillon (full name: Wachbataillon beim Bundesministerium der Verteidigung (WachBtl BMVg) (Guard battalion at the Ministry of Defence) is the German Bundeswehr's elite drill unit. The Wachbataillon is the largest battalion of the German forces with about 1,800 soldiers, split in two garrisons in Berlin and Siegburg. It consists of nine companies and belongs to the Streitkräftebasis (Joint Service Support Command) of the Bundeswehr.
