Original WWII Japanese Army Send-Off Banner (Shussei nobori.) When Japanese men left for their military service, community organizations, schools and employers organized celebrations to wish the troops well. These send-off ceremonies were called sokokai and the participants in parades carried “shussei nobori” or “Off To War Banners” banners with the names of the recruits on them. This example is approximately 180” in length with a 25” width. The fabric rayon or some other early synthetic. This one is unissued and has no name painted on it. The banner is in Very Good condition and will display nicely.
