Gebirgsjäger Bergmütze W/ Steinnuss Buttons

EXCELLENT quality! Just wish I could have gotten it with an edelweiss patch sewn on. But very satisfied with the product.

This is a very good looking and practical. I am not a reenactor and I use this cap for the colder and wet days. It is very well made and comfortable.

I have been looking for a good quality reproduction Bergmütze for quite a while. There are lots of them on other sites, mostly cheap knock-offs and some obviously M43s with a cheap Edelweiss pin stuck on the side. It finally came down to two options—this one and another very high-quality cap offered by a competitor. As I am about to send a child to college, saving a few dollars is important, and so I went with this one, hoping I would not be disappointed. Having received the cap, broken it in a little bit, and compared it to a couple of reproduction M43s I have lying around here, I can say that I am not disappointed. In fact, I am delighted with the quality and detail this Bergmütze features. The fit (always a gamble with the cheaper options) is perfect. The wool is of high quality, as is the liner. The sweatband is made of real leather, and the buttons and insignia are securely fastened. Stitching is uniform, with no loose ends to burn off. I intend to use this cap up in the hills this Autumn, but I am conscious of the fact that the small swastika on the insignia would likely attract some unwanted attention. To remedy this, while leaving the insignia intact for possible reenactment purposes, I cut out a small disc of electrical tape, which firsts securely over the offending symbol. I really could not be happier with this purchase. I am glad I found Hessen Antiques, and I look forward to acquiring a few more of their products!

fine quality and fits very well, also quite warm. only real complaint is that the leather sewn into the front of the cap is a tad annoying, though it seems to be removable without needing to damage the rest of the hat , that aside can't recommend this enough, even just for casual wear!

Really happy with quality and construction. Wish there was an option to have no tags physically sewn into the cap. Also expected the shape to be a little different. Most of the bergmutze I’ve seen have a taller peak to the cap at the front, this one is more similar to a standard M43 field cap. I’m hoping my original insignia will fit on the front, haven’t received the insignia yet to size it up or sew it on.
