The Medal for the Winter Campaign in Russia (Winterschlacht im Osten) also refered to as the Eastern Front Medal (Ostmedaille) was institued in May of 1942 and awarded to those who participated in the first winter campaign in Russia during the winter of 1941-1942.

Great reproduction piece

This replica of the Eastern Front Medal is wonderful. The detailing of the raised charges on both the front and back is very well done. I am very thankful that I was able to find this piece on the Hessian site and add it to my collection.

Medal looks good. Appears durable. I wish the ribbon ends were sewn to prevent fraying but still a nice item.
