Original Kollektiv der sozialistischen Arbeit Medal (Collective of Socialist Work) from the DDR (East Germany). This one is from the 1970-80's. The rear of the medal is embossed with: "SOZIALISTISCH ARBEITEN LERNEN UND LEBEN" (“LEARNING AND LIVING SOCIALIST WORK”)
The award was established on March 15, 1960 and honored high production successes, special successes in socialist community work and, above all, in socialist competition. The forerunners were the awards as “Brigade of Socialist Work” and “Community of Socialist Work”.
