Product Description

Original Aktivist der sozialistischen Arbeit Medal (Socialist Labor Activist Medal) from the DDR (East Germany).  This one is from the 1970-80's.  In original presentation case.  The rear of the medal is embossed with: "Auf sozialistische Art zu leben, erfordert auf sozialistische Art zu arbeiten" (“Living in a socialist way requires working in a socialist way”)

The award was established on July 28, 1969 and replaced the honorary title of Activist of the Seven Year Plan, its predecessor Activist of the Five Year Plan and Medal for Excellent Achievements that had been awarded until then. There were also honorary titles for young activists and outstanding young activists, which were awarded by the FDJ and the FDGB to young people in school or training for exceeding the required level of commitment and achievements.
